You can call Twitter a micro-blogging platform or you can call it an instant messenger site. You may like Twitter or you can reckon of it as a time loss. Whatever you call it and how you view it, Twitter is a tree-like community. A community has several characteristics and the ones which make it vital for us is that people are connected.
Why is this vital for you as a marketer? When you approach marketing in the classical manner what you get is you screaming loud and round around about your product. Individuals hear you and some buy and most of them don’t. What do you get if you use Twitter as a marketing tool? What you get is incredible. You tweet once, everyone hears you. Not only that, but people re-tweet and people to which you never talked hear about your product as well and follower of the followers of your followers it too and so on and so on. What more can you question than to invest such small effort and obtain such an echo?
The only problem you might have is to get people to really follow you. And you want them to follow you and re-tweet all your announces. So what do you need to do to obtain such fans? The truth is that people follow other people who they look up to. You need to find a way to impose yourself, to demand respect, to get in touch with everyone but still keep the distance which says “You should look up to me”. Being a company is not that hard. People won’t be able to find things in common with you if you tweet as a company and not as an individual. They all perceive the company as something huge and respectable so they will by default look up to you.
Using Twitter as a marketing tool is awesome and you will learn more gold than you’ve ever imagine. It’s completely free and the results you obtain are incomparable with the ones which you would obtain if you invested the same time and resources in a normal, ancient school campaign.
The most hard thing is to maintain your influence. You need to appear strong, leader-like and respectable and yet don’t push people away from you and your products. This is the most hard to handle part of Twitter marketing and the ones which control it are the ones who succeed. Get in touch with your followers and treat them with the same respect they treat you. Offer them breaking promotions and discounts and make them feel as a community. When your fans connect with one another it is much more hard to lose them.

Twitter has forever changed how we communicate both socially and in business.
Who would have ever thought 140 characters could impact lives in such a major way. Everyone from teens to celebrities to CEO’s tweet to some degree or another.
For all its acclaim, why do so many marketers fail using Twitter?
The media in proclaiming it a money-getting tool. Then why aren’t you and 98.4% of internet marketers getting the bucket loads of cash that your profit-seeking soul desires with all those Twitter automation tools? – Guy Kawasaki
You see, the magic lies not in the technology, it lies in the psychology!
- Are you a network marketer who needs more leads?
- Are you an internet marketer who wants more affiliate commissions?
- Are you a small business owner who would like to sell so much of your stuff you’ll have to hire extra customer support to handle the demand?
- Are you work-at-home business person who needs a recession-proof marketing channel?
- Are you a marketing consultant who likes to keep up with new social media technology so you can better serve your clients?
- Do you have anything you’d like to sell? Consulting services? Products? Yourself?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you should try this “crazy Twitter idea”…

Has Twitter Fizzled For You?
Perhaps you jumped on the Twitter bandwagon months ago hoping to ride the wave of popularity and prosperity and have found yourself beached, battered and broke.
For all of its acclaim, is Twitter helping your build your business? Are you making any money with your Twitter account(s)?
For most marketers the answer is no. Unfortunately, the Twitter phenomenon flooded the market with countless rehashed guides, software of other resources that in the end just didn’t measure up.
Like most trends, the marketing of Twitter by so-called experts lined their coffers but left most people in the lurch, no better off than before they started with regards to using Twitter as a real money making tool.
Like most ‘social’ media, the effectiveness of Twitter is based on interacting with people. While automation tools can help to get your message delivered quickly and consistently, they cannot build relationships. Forging relationships my friends is something that is totally dependent on human involvement.
What’s your experience been with Twitter and do you see it as a viable part of your overall business plan?
I’m interested in what you think, so leave me comment.
